Kalamazoo Area Building Authority (KABA) was created and established as a joint Construction Code Authority, and is a separate legal entity governed by an Authority Board established under Section 7 of the Urban Cooperation Act. Currently KABA regulates and controls building construction within Comstock Township, Kalamazoo Township, City of Parchment, Pine Grove Township, Richland Township, and the Village of Richland and has the power to administer and enforce the State Construction Code within the boundaries of each such unit.
KABA is managed by a Board consisting of one elected representative from each of its jurisdictions and one member-at-large.
The staff and Board members are committed to ensuring the safety of citizens by enforcing the Michigan Construction Codes while providing expedient turnaround from permit application submittal to the final inspection.
